Varying from slow and subtle to loud and powerful, Epigram's instrumental rock mixes genres to create an experimental sound that intensifies with each cascading melody.
Formed in the spring of 2007 in Toronto, Epigram came together when Matt Barr (drums), Andrew Eyles (bass), and Brad Deschamps (guitar) were in search of a second guitarist and met Jamie Jones through the online community of Craigslist. With Jones completing the line-up, things were immediately set in motion. Drawing upon influences like Mogwai, the Cure, and …Trail of Dead, they began writing instrumental music with these bands (and several more) in mind.
The band played its first show that summer with notable Boston post-rock bands Caspian and Junius, followed by several shows in Toronto and southern Ontario with the likes of Nadja, Holoscene, Tunturia and Proeliis Fere. Epigram’s melodic, experimental sound and engaging live performances, often featuring violinist Julie Lee, established them a solid fan base that continues to grow.
Their debut album “Anything That Comes to Mind” was independently released on October 24, 2008 and features a guest appearance by Julie Lee (violin). The band celebrated the release with a sold out show at The Boat in downtown Toronto. Currently, Epigram is promoting the seven-song full length CD with shows in Toronto and surrounding area, as well as planning a tour in 2009.

“Epigram is a fairly new postrock band from Toronto Canada, but you wouldn't know that from hearing this cd. They mix the layed back style of The Album Leaf with
the epic build ups of Mogwai and EITS. Really great cd.. i'm sure many more people will be hearing about them soon”.

"Considering that this band was formed in the spring of 2007 and had an full length album ready to ship about 18 months later, that they've already shared the stage
with Caspian, Nadja, and other names that will most likely ring a bell, I'm willing to believe that this band has a bright future ahead..."
